Policy

What role can scientists play in the public policy process?

The goal of the Policy module is to provide Fellows with an understanding of how national and international policy processes work, how to function effectively in the policy arena, and how to collaborate to provide input effectively. Specific training includes:

  • Interacting with elected representatives
  • Working with staffers
  • Presenting congressional testimony
  • Participating in advisory committees
  • Collaborating with government scientists
  • Interacting with citizens' groups
  • Working with federal agencies and interagency bodies
  • Understanding science funding in the federal budget
